On the one hand, we can hardly call her a teacher as she’s coming to Latvia once a year and anyway has too much things to do… So, there could be just few classes, where everybody can participate. Then why did we put her name in that chapter? The fact is that she’s a unique charismatic personality and bright artist who gives inspiration and teaches us creativity.

Now Vija Vetra is more than 80 years old, and yes, she still dances! Moreover, she can really enchant the spectators by… by what she is. Her education got in Vienna was classical ballet, then, after World War II, she had to leave for Australia where she performed also modern dance and started to go in for Indian dance. Later on, Vija Vetra became a specialist in various dance styles, putting an accent on Bharatnatyam. She traveled and performed all over the world, for example, as a soloist of legendary dancer Ram Gopal group. Vija Vetra also introduced dance as a part of a service in Christian Church.
