The son of Kundan Lal Gangani, one of the founders of Jaipur gharana of Kathak. Nowadays he’s the brightest exponent of that school and one of the fastest dancers. In 2002 he got a title “Shri" that puts him in a range of best dancers in India. Besides perfect technique he’s an amazing actor – one can see that in abhinaya pieces. In March, 2002, he gave a performance with world-famous tabla player Zakir Hussain, and hopefully that will become a sort of tradition. He teaches in Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and his students are taking part in various concerts and festivals. Rajendra Gangani is also a very talented choreographer who’s able with the means of Kathak technique (nritta) to create a marvellous dramatic performance. He is an accomplished singer and tabla-player as well.
